O'Reilly Management, After many years as a loyal customer, I believe I have discovered a rare species living inside your store: The North American Cellphone Employeeus Maximus. This fascinating creature can usually be found standing behind the counter, completely motionless except for its thumbs, which move at lightning speed while texting. Scientists believe it survives entirely on social media notifications and customer neglect. Because of my work schedule, I often visit at night. During my last five or six visits, I have witnessed the same documentary repeatedly. Picture this: Five customers waiting for help. One employee helping customers, answering questions, finding parts, and generally acting like someone who works at O'Reilly. And then... The Legend. The Cellphone Whisperer. The Sultan of Scrolling. The Grand Master of Text Messaging. This man is so committed to his phone that if the building caught fire, I suspect he would text the flames instead of helping customers. I even took photos on different days because I thought maybe I was imagining things. Nope. Same employee. Same phone. Same expression. Same complete lack of interest in customers. At one point,

This review is long overdue, and I want to give a special shoutout to Store Manager Jose and Store Associate Matthew! Every time I've visited the Santa Monica O'Reilly Auto Parts location, I've had an exceptional experience, so I wanted to finally give this team the recognition they deserve. Louie and Matthew are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely take the time to help. They never make you feel rushed, happily answer questions, and go above and beyond to ensure you leave with exactly what you need. They even helped me with my battery and made what could have been a stressful situation quick and easy. The store is always clean, well-organized, and well stocked. Customer service like this is becoming harder to find, and this team truly stands out. Thank you, Louie and Matthew, for your professionalism and outstanding service. I highly recommend this location!

I typically do not leave negative reviews unless I’ve had multiple bad experiences, and unfortunately this is one of those cases. I have only visited this O’Reilly Auto Parts location three times, and every single visit has involved waiting in line for 15+ minutes, with several other customers also waiting behind me. I understand that some transactions take longer than others, but that is not what caused the delays. There seems to be a serious issue with how this location is staffed and operated. During my most recent visit today, there were two employees working the front counter while four other customers and I waited in line for over 15 minutes. One of the counter employees finished helping a customer and then went outside to work on that customer’s vehicle for roughly 10 minutes. He came back briefly and then went right back outside again, all while a growing line of customers continued to wait inside. At the same time, there were several other employees in the store. Some appeared to be working on other tasks, but it was frustrating to see so many staff members present while customers stood in line waiting with no assistance. The staff here are generally helpful and knowledgeable, which is a plus when you need advice on parts. However, I found the inventory to be a bit limited for some common items, and the wait times can be longer than expected during busy hours. Overall, it's a decent place for auto parts.
